The latest home sales tracking data from the NPD Group shows that US Mac sales for the year in January and February 2011, the year was 16 percent. As noted by Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray, the consensus view on Wall Street is that Apple will release Mac sales 22 percent for the fiscal year March quarter.
The number is low, but is also two months before Apple released their new line of MacBook pro, which arrived at the end of February. This suggests that the sale may mácena before the expected update. To support this theory, the American Mac sales were somewhat more--20 percent--in January.
In addition, international sale Mac tend to have stronger year after year growth than sales in the US, Apple. For this reason, Munster expects Mac between 20% and 25% for the quarter, a number that would be in line with the expectations of Wall Street's 22 percent.
And devices such as iPhone and iPad continue to grow in popularity, the Mac also becomes less important part of Apple's business. Munster said that the estimated revenue will represent only the Mac 21 percent of the total revenue of Apple in the calendar year 2011.
If the Mac sales grow between 20 percent and 25 percent for the year, Apple would sell an estimated 3.5 to 3.7 million units in the frame of three months. Wall Street generally Apple expects sales for 3,6 million Macs in the quarter, which ends in March.
Munster also notes that the NPD data indicate sales of between 9.8 million and 10.3 million iPod March quarter, which would be a reduction of between 5% and 10 percent from a year ago. Wall Street generally expected iPod down about 6 percent a year for the year.
