Nikon India has communicated its COOLPIX spring series 2011 in India, which includes not only one but ten new cameras in India. The new line-up includes cameras from a point-and-shoot simple to advanced compact zoom project-specific P500, P300, S9100 S6100, S4100, S3100, S2500, L120, Liverpool L24 and L23. The new line ups is an addition to the existing COOLPIX range-P7000, S1100pj, S80, S8100 and S5100, making the total number of current COOLPIX range to 15.
Together with the COOLPIX spring series launched, Nikon also introduced India actress Priyanka Chopra as its brand Ambassador. Nikon aims to expand its advertising and promotional budget as double Rs 120 crores with its new brand Ambassador Priyanka Chopra. "In the last two years, India has been a high-powered binoculars growth market for us to achieve phenomenal results beyond our expectations. We have already built the strong position of around 20 percent market share in the compact camera segment. We are pleased to announce the introduction of 10 new colorful and high image quality products in our COOLPIX lineup today. As a leading brand in India we are planning to expand the market share to 25% in the coming financial year 2011-12, with the introduction of 10 new cameras. So that we can achieve our objectives, we are really pleased to have the gorgeous diva of bollywood Ms. Priyanka Chopra on board. Nikon is an aspirational brand and so charm and personality of the young India Priyanka who look up to as an inspiration, "said Mr. Hiroshi Takashina, Executive Director, Nikon India.
Sitting at the top of the new line-up is Nikon COOLPIX P500, which is a super wide-angle zoom camera, containing a 36 x optical NIKKOR zoom lens with focal length 22.5 mm to 810 mm. it is the highest optical zoom, Nikon ever incorporated into its COOLPIX line of cameras. The camera also uses a 12.1 megapixel Backside illuminated CMOS Sensor and new EXPEED C2 double image processors. Shooting in various angles easier to make, have also a P500 3-inch tilting LCD, which has a high resolution 921 k. camera has maximum speed up to ISO 3200 and full HD video recording (1920 x 1080 pixels) with stereo sound. Nikon did not specify if the interlaced or progressive HD video records it himself. HS Movie function that captures still and video at the same time is also included. Nikon COOLPIX P500 price have not been released yet.
Next on the P-series is Nikon COOLPIX P300, which is an advanced compact camera with a fast f/1.8 lens with a focal length of 24 mm-100 mm. Camera Lens-Shift Vibration employs reduction system for image stabilization. Like P500, P300 COOLPIX also uses a back illuminated CMOS Sensor, and it can shoot HDR images. You can write and view images, there is a 3-inch 921 k-dot TFT screen, and it has non-reflective coating. The camera captures full HD video with stereo sound plus optical zoom can be used during video recording. COOLPIX P300 is the price of Rs. 19950.
COOLPIX S-series which included S9100, S6100, S4100, S3100 and S2100 belongs to the stylish series of compacts from Nikon. COOLPIX S9100 is the most powerful and expensive in the series. It is a 12.1 megapixel camera compact zoom camera. It has a 25 mm wide-angle lens, which extends all the way up o 450 mm (18 x optical zoom), a backside illuminated CMOS sensor, a large 3.3-inch LCD with 921 k dot resolution, 360-degree panorama mode, full HD 1080p video with stereo sound and HS movie mode. S9100 costs Rs. 18, 950.
S6100 and S4100 is touchscreen enabled cameras with earlier sporting a 16 megapixel sensor and 7 x optical zoom lens while the latter offers a 14 megapixel sensor with 5 x optical zoom lens. Both cameras record 720 p HD but COOLPIX S6100 offers slightly longer rated battery life. S6100 lens shift VR offers in addition to the ice, while S4100 based on electronic VR. Pricings for both cameras have not been released yet.
S3100 and S2500 is stylish compact cameras with basic features. While the S3100 is has a 14 mega pixel camera S2500 a 12 megapixel sensor. Both cameras have a 4 x optical zoom, with slightly varying focal length. Both offer the same 2.7-inch TFT LCD monitor with 230 k resolution. S3100 offers 720 p HD video recording but S2500 can record VGA only at MAX. COOLPIX S2500 's price as stated on Nikon India website is Rs. 6,950, while the price of S3100 has not yet been released.
At the end of the list, Nikon L120, Liverpool L24 and L23 is the simple point and shoot cameras, which tries to shoot simpler and easier by offering easy auto mode. L120 is, however, a super zoom model in this line up with its 21 x optical NIKKOR zoom lens with focal lengths ranging from 25 mm to 525 mm. it has two image stabilization features – VR after image sensor shift and electronic VR method. It also comes with a 2.3-921 k dot TFT LCD monitor and a pop-up flash. The camera also records 720 p HD video with stereo sound. Nikon COOLPIX L120 is the price of Rs. 15,450.
Liverpool L24 and Nikon is the entry level cameras L23 with enhanced automatic features. Liverpool L24 Nikon offers a 14 megapixel sensor while L23 uses a 10.1 megapixel sensor. Liverpool L24 lens is a 3.6 x optical zoom, while the L23 has 5 x optical zoom and both cameras employ electronic VR image stabilization system as their. Liverpool L24 also has a larger 3-ich TFT LCD whereas L23 has a 2.7-inch TFT LCD. Both cameras record VGA video. Nikon COOLPIX Liverpool L24 price is on Rs. 6,450, while costing just Rs COOLPIX L23.4,990. We expect these new cameras to hit our lab as soon as possible, so stay tuned for our review.
